As promised, here's the last project. I had another friend do me a favor and so I'm going to give her this to tell her thanks. I plan to fill it with lollipops--if I ever get them made!

Autumn Word Decoration

Hi again--I'm this post from the orthodontist office--let's see if it works!?

I love decorating for fall and couldn't wait to use "Jan's Monogram Place Card" file to cut this "AUTUMN" decoration. The file is available here: http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=4082 I simply enlarged the letters I needed from the file and cut them out of brown cardstock and presto a word runner for my kitchen window. It is hard to tell, but each letter is about 4.5" tall. You could even cut the letters smaller and make a "word runner" to go down the center of a Thanksgiving table. Oh, the possibilities are endless with this file!

Sam and Hailey 3rd Quarter Membership

It's been a long time since I posted--somehow summer left and school (and PTA) began and my time got away from me. As usually Jan has designed some awesome files for her membership members. Below is a sampling of 4 of those files available to those in the 3rd quarter membership.

The card above was cut using Jan's "Side Step Card". The little present is from her "Itty Bitty Presents" file which can be purchased here:http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7055 The "Happy Birthday to You" on the font of the card was created using Jan's "Casual Cute Pen Alpha" file. This file allows you to make use of the pen tool accessory for you digital cutter. Jan's file can be found here: http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5386 The card was fast and simple to make since all the thinking is already done for you! It is always fun to give a handmade card to someone you love!

This next little treat was created using Jan's "Page Borders-Garden" file. These borders are designed to cut 12 inches long so they can complement your scrapbook pages. But, since I haven't scrapbooked in a year (to my disappointment), I decided to think "outside the box" and use the cute file for something else. One of my neighbors had checked on our house when we were on vacation--so as a small thank you I gave her her favorite candy bars wrapped up in the cute flower bordered backed by some ribbon--she loved it and it only took 2 minutes to make!

This little sign was made using another of Jan's Pen Alpha files. I used the "Curly Cursive" file from the membership to quickly make a Fall decoration for our guest bathroom. We could all use a little reminder to be grateful. The brown frame and swirl are a photo overlay from "My Minds Eye"--but you could easily do something similar with your cutter. Oops, I just noticed that the "A" in the middle of the picture is a little messed up--a lesson on remembering to "group" objects before moving them around. Trust me though, this is user error--Jan's file is perfect :)!

Somehow I got involved in PTA this year and am now in charge of the Reflections Program for our school. I needed to make a few posters to remind students to enter and Jan's "Very Vinyl-Get Creative" file in the membership made for a perfect header for the poster. The "Art Crown" is from the file. Can I just say how much I LOVE vinyl--this was such a fast poster to make since it was just a cute graphic (courtesy of Jan) and text. No gluing needed since I cut it from vinyl!

I still have two more little project to post, but I've got to run my E to the orthodontist! Be back later.

Cupcakes and Coupons

Hello again!

Has everyone noticed how very popular cupcakes have become? Well, my attempt to make fancy frosted cupcakes from scratch failed miserably, but the ones pictured below turned out much better. These cute cupcakes were cut using my Silhouette and Jan's "Itty Bitty Cupcake" file. These magnets only measure 1" by 1" and cut incredibly well. I cut the ivory base for each cupcake out of cardstock 4 times and then layered them together to give the magnets a nice, sturdy base and then simply cut and assembled each cupcake. I used brown, orange and pink vinyl to cut the other pieces to make them "kid friendly" and a lot more "cleanable" (yes, I'm sure that's a word) than paper. The file includes everything you need to make the 5 darling cupcakes pictured below. 20 minutes, start to finish, and success guaranteed plus awesome magnets to draw attention to the fabulous artwork or schoolwork that deserves to be displayed on the fridge.

I've been trying to be much more diligent about using coupons when I shop. I usually end up shopping with my 2-year-old so speed and thus immaculate organization is a must. Thus. the need for a cute coupon organizer. When I saw Jan's "Chunky Flower Mini Album" I knew just what I needed to do. Didn't it turn out cute? I love that it allowes me to open it completely and flip between each category--plus did I mention that it is CUTE! The file includes 6 tabs and a cover for the front and back. It also includes a seperate tab so you can create and label each of the six tabs if desired. I used my binding machine, but the file includes holes for ribbon if desired. I used Jan's "Pen Alpa Casual Cute" alphabet file for the labels. I used the Silhouette's pen tool and this file to create the category labels--AWESOME!!! More Fun From Sam & Hailey's Membership Club

Jan has been up to it again...creating fun files for her membership group. Here are some projects I've been completing during the month of May.

The card pictured below is created using Sam and Hailey Designs (SHD) "Roundie Gear" file. I loved this file because I needed a graduation card for our nephew who was headed to college. I really have a hard time creating "masculine" cards, but this solved my problem and he loved it. This first picture is the outside of the card while the next picture shows the sentiment inside... "We hope this helps you GEAR up for college". Corny? Yes, but he still liked it.

This next project was created using SHD "Step Ladder Card Base" file. I made it to use as a centerpiece for our special graduation dinner we held in honor of my son "graduating" from preschool. He thought it was fun and I loved making it. The file does all the thinking for you...cutting the card, the mats and the pattern paper is a breeze. It took me 10 minutes to throw it together. This darling bag is one of my all time favorite files from SHD. It is created using the "Large Box Bottom Bag" found here

I actually replaced the bow with better ribbon before I sent the present to my son's teacher, but I forgot to take a picture of the "improved" version. I use this file often and always get wonderful comments about the "custom" bag. The bottom of the bag is cut from cardstock and is rectangular to give the box depth and allow it to stand alone.

This last project is a card created using the "Tall Tri-Shutter Card" file, again available in the membership club. As mentioned before, this digital cutter file takes all the "thinking" out of making this card. The file includes cutting patterns for the cardbase, the mats and the rectangles cut from pattern paper. It looks impressive and difficult, but it easy as cake! I love how I can make multiple cards using the same file, but have each look unique!

Back Again

It's been a very long time since I've done anything creative, but here are two things I've had fun doing this past week. Jan, of Sam and Hailey Designs, has been creating awesome files to get my creative juices flowing! She has a new membership club open for this quarter and all the items pictured were created with files from this membership.

Just FYI, the cost of the membership is only $10.00 and she guarantees to give you at least 20 files created for your digital cutter (gsd, ai, knk, svg, wpc formats are available). That turns out to be just 50 cents per file and trust me she does some awesome stuff. Okay, enough talk here's the projects:

I need some cards to go with baby gifts--it seems I have at least 10 friends who are expecting baby girls any day now. This card was fast and so simple to throw together. I used Jan's "Baby Carriage" digital stamp (which also includes a cutting file) and simply used the "print and cut feature" on my Silhouette to make fast little embellishments for the cards. I was amazed at how well they cut even being so little (approx. 1.5 inches wide). Here's a close-up of the carriage. I didn't want to color it, I like the black and pink combo, but you could always add a little color too.

I've been needing new decorations for my kitchen window. Lately, I'm really liking quotes so I wanted to create a tile with some of the attributes the LDS Church is encouraging it's youth to develop. When I saw Jan's new file, "Swirly Spring Tree", I knew just what to do. A tree is a perfect reminder of something that is "strong, steadfast and immovable"--it went perfect with the quote, plus it was cute and "springy". So here it is. I cut the file out of vinyl and then just stuck it on the tile. I love it and it added some much need "spring" to my window!

Gift Card Holder

It is almost time for school to get out. I have been amazed at how much my first grader has learned. He as enjoyed every day and I attribute most of his love of learning to his great teacher. I have been very impressed with her dedication and wanted to let her know how much we appreciated her. We purchased a gift card for her, but I of course, wanted a cute way package it up. Here it is with the gift card in it.

And here it is with the gift card out. It is a fun file to cut from double-side cardstock!

I cut a flower from Jan's "Paper Blossom" file http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_dnld_info&products_id=2768 and applied glitter to add a little "bling" to the box. His teacher loved it!

Extra Tall Purse Bag

I've been a super slothful design team member. Sorry Jan!!! Actually, I've been creating things with Jan's awesome files, but just haven't been very good at posting pictures. Here's a cute gift bag a created for a friend's birthday gift.

I used Jan's "Extra Tall Purse Bag" file http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5088 and then I added her "Technique Combo Flowers 4" http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5380 to the front of the bag and cut it out. I cut the smaller petals out of two sided adhesive film (available from QuicKutz) and covered it with glitter. I filled the inside of the bag with pink tissue paper to conceal the gift and add color to flower's large petals. Here's a close up of the flower.

My friend loved it and was so quick and easy to make. I think one of the best things about owning a digital cutter is being able to make a hand made item so quickly and easily. BTW, Jan's files work with the Klic-n-Kut, the Wishblade, the CraftRobo, the Silhouette, and now even the Cricut! They are awesome--check them out!

May's Off-The-Page Challenge at Paperthreads

The Paperthreads Forum (www.paperthreads.com) hosts monthly challenges. The "Off The Page" challenge for May was to make door decoration using your cutter. Here is what I came up with. I used Sam and Hailey's "Paper Blossom" http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_dnld_info&products_id=2768 file to cut and layer multiple flowers to add dimension. I loved how it turned out and it add some bright Spring colors to my door. The font is one I downloaded from the internet for free but I can't remember the name of it--sorry!

1st Project Completed

My 1st grader is practicing his addition and subtraction facts--they are having a little contest to see who can do them the fastest. I decided to make a flipbook for him to practice with. It was super fun to do and went really fast. I think I want spring to get here so I used bright, fun colors. I used Jan Bryson's (aka Sam and Hailey Designs) Perpetual Calendar file http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=4860 The numbers in the book are cut from her IttyBitty Funky Numbers file http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=4858 and title box is from her Bracket Edge 2 Background Cuts http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=4630. As usual her files all cut great and were fun to work with. I used the pen tool to write the title in the bracket box on the front. Here is what I came up with, now to just get someone to practice his math.

Hi everyone!

I'm so excited! As many of you know, I have a digital cutter (Wishblade, Silhoutte, etc.) and I love to cut all sorts of things--vinyl especially! I am a member of the Paperthreads forum which is devoted to everything having to do with digital cutters. There are many designers associated with the forum. One of my favorites is Jan Bryson, a.k.a. Sam & Hailey Designs. Well...just recently Jan offered me a spot on her Creative Team. I was so excited and have accepted her offer. Now I get to use some of her files to create projects. I will be posting the projects I complete here on this blog so keep you eyes open!!!
